The Magna Carta was created by King John in 1215 when the people of England were getting their land, castles and money taken from them. For example, King John would raise the taxes if he wasn’t getting enough money and would take things away from people if they didn’t give him money for his many expensive wars. When the people came together to settle this with the king they created a Magna Carta. The king promised not to raise the taxes and not to punish people if they didn’t pay. But he broke a lot of these promises very fast.

    To Mrs Morris
The Magna Carta is a historical document written in 1215 after King Johns unfair treatment of his people and the document makes it so that a king doesn’t have as much power. The document inspired much of modern democracy. One of the most important statements inside the Magna Carta is not being able to change tax laws without the consent of the Barons. This still effects Australia, just in a wider variety because most decisions can’t be past unless the majority of the population agree to it. This is in place to stop rulers from being unfair.

    To Ms Morris,
The Magna Carta has helped us today because it was the start of freedom and it started to give people some political rights. It was a huge historical moment in my opinion but other people don’t think so. It was the start of people voicing opinions but it only started by giving barons options. The rules in the Magna Carta only applied to less than half of the population back then. Only 3 out of 63 of the laws apply to today’s laws in England. King John was the king who signed the Magna Carta.

    Hi Ms Morris
In the early 1300s King John ruled England. John was the youngest boy in the family so you would think he would rule later on. The story is all of the other brothers died somehow. King John was so rude to all of the people they decided about what they should do. Then they made rules that said every body should have a say about thing like if the King should have people’s things. So the Magna Carta is a legal document about rules and laws about England. All other country’s including Australia was inspired so they made one too.

Many men were unhappy because King John was taking there land there money just so he could participate in expensive wars to win them. The men made King John make promises. But of course being him he didn’t keep them. Some of the promises were: Not raising taxes, Respecting the rights of church and trial by jury. They called the document the Magna carter. Some people say it’s one of the most important legal documents ever written. In June 1215 one month after the rebellion started King John was forced to sign the Magna Carter or also called Great Charter.

    Hey Ms Morris,

Everyone believes that the Magna Carta was a big moment in history. The rules that it brought only applied to half the population. Now in these days adults get a say in something. There are only 4 original copies of the document remaining and each document had to be hand written. Magna Carta means great treaty, which was written to make the barons happy and stop the fighting. The Magna Carta now is basically underlying how we live. This is now the 800th anniversary for the Magna Carta. These days it has a important role in Australian democracy.

    Hi Ms Morris
The Magna Carta has made a massive part in how all the country’s run apart from China. This document was made in 1215 that’s when they were still riding dinosaurs! This was a big part on preventing a big war. You can see the parts of this in Australia. Like we get a say on what happens in Australia and how Australia is run. We also get who runs Australia. If this wasn’t invented the world would be a bad place. It has also had a impact on places around the world like America they also get a say.

    Dear Mrs Morris,
The Magna Carta has helped us so much. Here is how it all started. When the King of England “King John” was unfair to the barons (landowners). The King stole all sorts of things from them includining money, property and raising the tax money all the time and got away with it . No one had any opinion. When the barons had enough they decided to protest that’s when the Magna Carta was created. It now helps us have a say in what happens in our political system and everyones tax money goes towards important purposes.

The Magna Carta is a historical document about rules. This is because there was a man called John in a really big royal family but the rest of his family died so John became King John. The problem was that King John was not a good King. He was unfair and he kept making the taxes higher. So people thought it was unfair so they argued with the king to change the rules. That is how the Magna Carta made. They all got together and fought to make it fair. It is still a document and a very important document.

The Magna Carta is a really important part in modern democracy because it means the government can’t raise taxes or change laws without more than 50% of the people agreeing. It also prevents the government doing things like selling someone’s house to get money. In fact, Australian democracy wouldn’t be the same without the Magna Carta. Without the Magna Carta, the government would still be raising taxes without the people having a say and using it for things like wars. Even though the Magna Carta was made 800 years ago lots of things written in it still apply to today.

The Magna Carta is a historical document written in May 1215 the barons were fed up with King johns ways. In June King John was forced to sign the Magna carter (great charter). It limited the Kings authority to make things fair. The problem was it only counted for the barons. So everyone else had no say. Here are some of the agreements on the document Were: rights to the church, people have a say, cannot raise taxes without barons permission, no man shall be imprisoned or seized. King John later disobeyed these rules and a civil war broke out.

    Hi Ms Morris!
This is how I think the Magna Carta made a difference to democracy:

The Magna Carta was an important document in the making of modern day democracy. Some historians think it was start of the political rights for people in the UK and other parts of the world, but others disagree, they don’t think it had a big effect.
Out of 63 rules written 3 are still a part of today’s laws.
The rules it brought only applied to less than half of the population.
Weeks after it was established, King John decided he didn’t like it, so he got rid of it, but King Henry 3 brought it back after he died.

    Hi,

The Magna Carta is a document of rules that was approved by King John in 1215.
It contains the rule that nobody, including King John can put someone in prison for
no reason. People can also not demand to have the house or belongings.

The Magna Carta was a big change for all rights, getting the rights was so important that there was a war against King John, there was a war because people wanted to be free with their money and rights. This has changed because before the Magna Carta the King could go up to any one he wanted and say ”I will have your house and you can go and live in China”. You still have to pay tax when you work but the tax goes to the roads and hospitals and all of the important things in our life. From grace.r.

    To miss Morris,

In the 13th century King John went to war with France which was funded by taxing the Barons. Then the king gave the Barons land in return he wanted money. Then in 1215 the barons had enough and fought back then made king John sign a document called Magna Carta. It limited the kings power, and made a justice system. This gave the barons more rights, this also meant that the king couldn’t imprison or charge them without the say of the jury. But this didn’t mean that all of the people got the right, this document only helped the barons. So life wasn’t so great for everyone.
Today Magna Carta still has some background in our country’s democracy.

    Hi Miss Morris
The Magna Carta is a document of rules that involve no free man should go to prison, or should be taking his things of him. This is the same in Australia today.

The influence of the unfairness of King John and the Magna Carta in the world today.

The Magna Carta is a extremely important in modern democracy. In the days of King John things went so easy. King John wanted to fight wars to get land back but these wars were expensive. King John put taxes up to get money but the barons despised this. If the government put taxes up eleven times I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t like it either. The barons rebelled and created the Magna Carta. This was a set of rules that are sometimes still used today.

    Dear Mrs Morris,
I really like inquiry and enjoy learning about the government. I reserching about how we could make learning about this more fun. I came across a project where you create your own country in groups of 4 to 5 people. You choose a way for it to run, a political system, laws, where you capital city is and all of the things you need in a country. This would be really fun but also really challenging and I think that’s what makes a good task I hope we can do this project.

    Kind regards Mikayla6A
