Today I would like you to explore other people’s stories about why they migrated to Australia. You can use the website ABC Splash or BTN to find some interesting stories or click on one of the links below. You may need to watch the video more than once to fully understand what each character is saying.

Hi all, over the past two weeks we have been working hard on creating our own political parties. These have to include: a leader, campaign slogan, party logo, at least 5 members, a statement for what they stand for, two proposed bill changes associated to school (realistic/viable/costings), five pieces of advertising/propaganda (banner, badges, poster, advert, pamphlet) and funding ideas for proposed bills.
On Thursday we will be spending most of the morning until 12:30pm preparing to present to the school all of the above. From 12:30 – 12:45pm you will be setting up your political party information booth in the Upper School courtyard ready for the constituents to vote from 12:45pm until 1:30.
As Thursday is your campaign day you are allowed to come in clothes to represent your party. You will need to make sure that you are well presented and your clothing will encourage people to vote for you. Feel free to share this post with your parents!
After lunch on Thursday, the successful party will be given time to decide how they are going to govern the Year 6s on Friday (within the rules of the school of course!) This will have to tie in with your party statement too.

Let me introduce you to our 1850s character from the diggings:
His name is Edward, but he gets called Eddie most of the time. He is 12 years old and has come to the Ballarat diggings with his family from California. His papa is John and he is a Wheelwright by trade. His mama is Esta and she is a housewife that takes care of his little brother James (9) and sister Alice (7).
Eddie is above average height and a little clumsy. He is skinny with green eyes and straight brown hair. Eddie is smart, creative, resourceful and likes animals. He has a tanned face and some freckles.
Stay tuned for the whole 26 days of his first days on the diggings in Ballarat!

What a wonderful grade I have. They adapted to life as an 1850s child exceptionally well! Including not being able to run if you were a girl, using a slate, quill and ink writing, standing to address the class, adding ‘Sir’ to the end of each comment and receiving the cane if you were late to class!
Congratulations 6A, after 4 long, hard weeks of preparation, Solar Boats race day is finally here. I am so proud of each of you for the persistence, dedication, organisation and getting along skills that you have shown over this project.
During races, only 2 people from your team are required. Make sure you take turns, so everyone has a chance to race your boat. You must have a table in your maths book to record the times for each race and any alterations that you make to your boat. Everyone in your team needs this table.
During a race, one person will put the boat in, the other person will time the race. The ten race times will be averaged for your team to work out who may get to complete in the finals
You may also want to take a video or photos of the race.
In addition to racing today, there are number of other tasks that MUST be completed. They are listed below.

6 images in a gallery with captions. You can use the gallery option through insert media, or investigate a website to use to create a gallery and insert it into your blog post.
A video of your boat during a race heat.
A reflection tool from my blog page. You MUST select a tool that requires you to respond in FULL detailed sentences.
A table or graph showing your 10 trial race times
A visual poetry word cloud. This is a free app, search ‘visual poetry’. If you have access to the app store, you can create one of these. If not, have a go at using something like pic collage to arrange some solar boat words.

When you ‘sign in’ please use your proper name and an initial if there are multiples of your name.
